Sandro dismisses exit talk

Tottenham midfielder Sandro has moved to dismiss speculation that he considered leaving White Hart Lane this summer.

The Brazilian was linked with a move to big spending AS Roma after a series of superb performances caught the eye of the Italian outfit.

Reports suggest the capital club made a move for the 22-year-old during the transfer window and while the tough tackling midfielder concedes he would one day like to play in Serie A, talk of a move to Italy are wide of the mark.

“Roma were not the only side interested in me, there were others too,” Sandro told Radio Mana Sport 24.

“The problem was that no offer arrived.

“Nevertheless, I’m happy that a big club like Roma were keen, especially as they play in an important championship. I’d certainly like to play in Italy at some point in the future. It would be another forward step in my career.”

The former Internacional midfielder insists he is focused on playing for Spurs and believes the squad is more than capable of another top four finish this year.

“I’m convinced we’ll have a good season at Tottenham. It’s a great club, with great players. I believe we can finish in the top three or four this term,” he added.

Sandro is yet to make an appearance this season after suffering a knee problem on international duty with Brazil during the Copa America earlier this summer.
