FA Cup Draw scenarios as Tottenham proceed in the FA Cup

After a narrow win against Burnley in the FA Cup third round, Tottenham would hope for the best-case scenario when the draws stand announced for the fourth round of the competition.

It took a wonder strike from Pedro Porro in the 79th minute against The Clarets to propel the Lilywhites to the next round. However, the competition only starts now, and we can only hope for our draws to come against not-so-strong opponents.

Let’s break down the best and worst possible scenarios for Ange Postecoglou’s men when the FA Cup draw starts in advance of the third-round tie between Wigan and Manchester United.

Thanks to Pedro Porro, Tottenham are in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Best Case Scenario

After beating Stevenage 1-0 at home, National League South side Maidstone United created history and have placed themselves in the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time since their reformation in 1992.

Newport County and Eastleigh face each other in the replay on 17th January and the prospect of facing either of those two sides works best for Tottenham. That would surely give us the best chance of getting our hands on silverware.

Considering the limited likelihood of encountering either of those teams, given the substantial number of Premier League and Championship sides advancing to round four, securing a home draw would surely be satisfactory for Tottenham as they set their sights on progressing to the fifth round, and winning at home is not a tough ask for the Lilywhites.

Let's hope for the best-case scenario in the FA Cup draw for Tottenham.

Worst Case Scenario

Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Manchester United [yet to KO] and Chelsea. Need we say more? Goes around the same way for other teams as well, as Premier League sides would certainly hope not to face their ilk early in any competition.
